We work from the premise that spatial planning is a key public policy instrument for establishing long-term, sustainable and integrated framework for social, territorial and economic development both within a country in rural and urban areas.

We have core expertise:

  • Rural and Regional spatial planning;

  • Economic Geography and GIS;

  • Infrastructure(Housing, Transport and  Energy);

  • Industry and agriculture;

We look for approaches that are beyond traditional land use planning by focusing on tools for integrating spatial development with other policies and programmes  which influence the nature of places and how they function.

Related to integrated spatial development is the notion of strategic planning that focuses on functional spatial zones that link areas beyond geographical boundaries in order to optimize common resources and attributes

We also ensure employment of robust monitoring systems that can capture spatial planning outcomes along multi-spatial levels and across social, economic and environmental spheres of development in various locations.

Our approach is participatory, ensuring that all key stakeholders have a voice in problem analysis, formulation of development proposals and implementation

We employ an approach of embedding staff member (s) from client departments or municipalities in the execution of project thus ensuring early ownership and skills transfers.

We also:

  • Identify from stakeholder communities, and support champions of particular thematic  issues;

  • Build information resources and develop mechanisms for dissemination to a wide range of stakeholders;

  • Create linkages between clients and international expertise, best practices and resources.

At community level capacity is developed through workshops, discussion groups as well as by providing ongoing extensive aftercare support and monitoring services.

Development is hypothetically defined as the process of gradual improvement and growth. In this case property development is as a result of the need to settle at locations which are deemed suitable for inhabitancy. Purposes for settlement can either be for residential or nonresidential purposes. However any development at any stage is influenced by different components which require its existence e.g. need for housing, business premises, industrial parks etc. Hypothetically no development that is successful has ever been erected without the sustainable need thereof.
